Today WOD's Announced

So...Today s a day I have been anticipating for awhile. The day I learn the workouts I will be doing for the Crossfit Sectionals. I have been taking it easy so far this week to let my body rest. I ran a fast mile and a help with my dog Sparty and then yesterday DL up to 375lbs to feel a little weight. I did not want to go to heavy but I wanted to go heavy enough.

Today I did 50 burpies for time (2:06). I plan to go to the Crossfit gym at 5:30PM since my workouts are posted at 5:00 I am hoping to work on the workouts there.

Then my mom is coming from Florida on Friday and staying until Tuesday to meet her daughter. I am super pumped to have her see her Granddaughter.

Then...In between that the GAMES! Will be an awesome weekend!

One Week!

One week until sectionals and I am feeling good and excited about the weekend to come. Doug came by this weekend and we did some workouts. On Saturday I went to the Crossfit gym at noon and did:
25 Body Squats/ Push Ups/ Pull-ups/ Situps
50 " " "
75 " " "

it equals to 150 reps for each exercise. Took me just over 25 Minutes the pullups and the last 2 sets of sit up were rough.

Doug got here and I decided to have him time me doing "Grace"
30 clean and jerks with 135lbs for time. I finished in 2 minutes even. I was pumped but wanted a sub 2 time. That will be next time.

We went to dinner and came back to do another workout:

5 rounds

5 thrusters
25 SDHP w/45lbs
10 HSPUs

no time because we went one after another. Good workout.

Sunday:

Woke up and went to the Crossfit gym at 10am. Did a Crossfit Endurance workout "Betty".

5 rounds
12 Push Press with 135lbs
20 box jumps 24 inch box

I did it in about 5:50. I am not sure what he said my time was because I was tired.

Then when at home I did 300 calf raises on the stairs for time.
100 straight
100 toes in
100 toes out

Did them in 3:42. Always feels god after those! I think I am going to take the rest of the day off because my shoulders are a bit tired and I think I should start toning down the amount of workout since I have exactly one week until the competition. PUMPED!

2nd Day at South Bend Crossfit

Crossfit games are just over a week away and I have trained at an accual affiliat now oh.....twice counting today. We did overhead squat max, front squat max, and back squat max. Havent done this in a very long time so I did about every weight possible starting at 135lbs with OHS. The workout was 5 sets of 1 rep max on each lift. I ended with;

Overhead Squat 235lb (stopped here)
Front Squat 305lb (failed at 315)
Back Squat 375lb (stopped her)

Felt good but it did not get me tired or really work me, so i will be doing that after work. Only a few days left to prepare.

Just got an e-mail that they will be announcing the workouts on March 3rd!

Been Awhile...New Beginning!

So....I quit blogging when life got a little busy and I started journaling in a book to my daughter when I found out my wife (Chelssie) was pregnant.
At this time I did not have a set design or plan as far as my workouts went. I had continued training but not as hard as I would like.
In this time we moved to Granger and I did not want to get a gym membership so I gathered up as much equipment as I possibly could and began working out in the basement of the house we are in. Again the woekouts were not how I would have liked them to go, until......Afriend of mine (Doug) talked me into checking out this crossfit site. I did and within weeks was hooked. Now I have purchased an olympic bar with bumpers and a 40lb weight vest to go with the already random equipment in my basement.
Right after I started I learned about the Crossfit Games where the fittest man is crowned. That pulled me in. I wanted to become the fittest I could possibly be and what better way to try to do that by going against the fittest. So after about a week of diliberation I decided to sign up and compete. The first round is the Sectionals in Columbus, Oh at the Arnold Classic, then the Regionals in Logan, Oh, and finally the Finals in Aromas, CA. The top 20 in sects move on the then the top 3in regls move on to the finals.
I have only been training for about 2 months now for these games but feel if I can make it to Regionals that I will have some extra time for training and am pumped to go against these great athletes.
With that said I decided to document my workouts and my journey to this years games and those to come.
Oh ya.....and that affiliate is letting me train in there gym for no charge! They are an awesome group! Thank you!
I am taking the day off today because I have not in about 2 weeks because I have a big training weekend coming up because the games are on March 7th! Cannot wait.

Run

I woke up this morning and went on my run. Chelssie came and rollarbladed as I ran, Sparty led the way. I ran for 1:12:54, not quite the mini I had anticipated, but it was nice running with the two of them.
I hope to get two more long runs in before the end of the weekend. I felt fresh, unlike the last couple of days.

WIND

Decided to go on a short run during my lunch break at lunch. Ran for 18:46 in to constant 40MPH wind. I do not know what it is about Plianfield, IN but they have horrible weather for running during lunch breaks.
I am planning on running a min tomorrow in preparation for the race in two weekends. I am excited and hope that I will do well.
